Amazon.com Inspired by 19th-century botanical illustrations, Portmeirion Botanic Garden dinnerware features a lush array of hand-painted blossoms. The pieces are perfect for a mix-and-match sensibility and suitable for year-round dining. Made in Britain from high-quality porcelain, they are safe in the oven, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. Executed with incredible detail, these Botanic Garden dinner plates display the pattern’s floral images in graceful variation. Each piece features a different central illustration of a flower surrounded by butterflies on the wing. The vibrant drawings are labeled with the flowers' Latin and common names and bordered with a wreath of laurel leaves on the slanted rim. The set includes six plates in all, featuring a clematis, a peony, a lily, a Christmas rose, a magnolia, and an azalea. Each plate measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter. --Emily Bedard

I am happy that Portmeiron is now oven to tableVery nice addition to my existing plates. Came promptly and in great packaging. Fair price!Love my new plates!!!!I love these plates which were replacements for plates I bought 35 years ago. We use the dishes every day. These plated make me happy! They are extremely well made and durable and they are the prettiest plates ever.I have been a fan of Portmeirion since the mid 1970's. I was very excited to see that there were additional dinner plates that I could add to two previous editions (1972 and approximately 2003) to give my set 18 different designs. The three different issues blend together nicely. Don't let the word "Exotic" deter you from adding to any of the other editions of these plates. To me, these are just another extension to a beautiful line of dinnerware. There are some actual plate design differences between the three editions, however, they still stack nicely and no one would probably notice unless they look at the plates' undersides to detect this. One of the plates from this specific set does have several flaws on its underside. Not sure how this will hinder the plate's performance in the future, but I'll update this review if I notice anything that causes me to reduce this rating to 4 stars instead of 5. Finally, my experience with Portmeirion as a whole has been a good one. In the 40+ years that I have owned this line, I have had only two "casualties" with neither being a fault of the manufacture of the dish. These dishes have held up to everyday use and are still almost as beautiful as the day I got them. I expect the same from this recent purchase and I highly recommend that anyone interested in Portmeirion to give this set a try. They are truly beautiful.Christmas presentI have always loved my Portmeirion dishes. I've owned and used my Garden dishes for a couple of decades. Because I've used this set so long I have had to replace broken and chipped plates and bowels to make sure there is a plate for everyone. We really like the plant motif because we are both respected gardeners with a lovely landscaped property and a greenhouse full of tropicals. Whats not to like about these dishes? The 6 plates are superb. Unfortunately my shipment arrived significantly shattered due to insufficient packaging, I believe. The seller and Amazon Customer Service were both individually extremely good in dealing with the problem with me and this really was great. I bought a replacement set because the set was so attractive. Thank you to the seller and to Amazon for turning around a sticky and frustrating situation.I needed to replace some broken or scratched Portmeirion plates – some were over 30 years old. A few belonged to my father and were about 50 years old!! A real testament to their quality. These plates are extremely hard-wearing and tough. They are over a quarter of an inch (6mm) thick and so quite heavy. The glaze is very thick and shiny, giving good protection to the pattern. They are microwave, dishwasher, freezer and oven friendly, attractive and very long-lasting. Overall, they are extraordinarily high quality. The plates I purchased were identical diameter to my originals, they even stack together precisely. In my experience there are only three ways to damage these plates. Place it on a hot vitroceramic hob which will crack it, drop it onto a stone floor or use an electric carving knife on it (even this strong glazing will be damaged). Otherwise these plates are virtually indestructible!i needed to replace two Portmeirion Botanic plates but ended up buying this set of six. Amazon's price made it cheaper to do this than to track down only two as it appears the pattern in becoming increasingly difficult to find. We were unexpectedly delighted with this purchase and the wonderful variety of designs. This is good, practical china that goes in the dishwasher and, despite my two accidents on a stone floor, the plates are very hard-wearing. Not everyone likes Portmeirion Botanic but we find the variety of flowers charming. The set arrived on time and in excellent condition.covid lockdown can put your mind into a depressing, dark and siloed worldbuy these plates and see your mind fly into a delightfully colourful world of beauty and joyBest way to beat covid :)(caveat: this is ofcourse not a medical advice)These were sold as prime A1 condition, however every plate had small blemishes and were clearly seconds. I state this as someone who has had a very large quantity of Portmeirion for over 30 years, both A1 from retailers and factory seconds direct from the Portmeirion factory when visiting the village. Naughty to sell 2nds as A1!
