I ordered these the first time to use for my wedding reception, which was a low key back yard event. I served all the food in white ceramic dishes, and didn't want to use paper plates. These are a great compromise - they are great quality, look nice, especially if you combine with pretty napkins and silver plastic flatware. I've ordered them multiple times since to host a friend's celebration of life, my step-daughter's wedding celebration and for block parties that we've hosted. They're good enough quality that people are always concerned about throwing them away. You definitely could get away with washing and re-using a few times if you wanted to. I don't love the throwaway plastic aspect of these, but it's been a trade-off of convenience over being environmentally friendly.
